Seen on eBay, a 1993 PowerBook JLPGA. But with one thing: it’s probably a modified machine…
So for $15,000, you can buy a rare PowerBook, originally offered as a prize in a Japanese golf tournament in 1993 (I think). Why do I think it’s been modified? Because a few months before it was put up for sale, a model with the same markings (S#14034
) and the same scuff marks on the shell (which differ if you look at other models) was sold for about €750 in Japan. But the Japanese model had a damaged screen, affected by the vinegar syndrome. I guess the seller hopes to make a good profit after replacing the screen… By the way, it’s worth noting that the screens on PowerBooks from the 100 series age very poorly, with a nearly inevitable tunnel effect over time.
