A prototype of an iPod touch with a camera

About a decade ago, Apple was regularly releasing iPod touches. And when the third generation arrived, there was a small surprise: while rumors suggested a camera (like the iPhone), the final version did not have one. But in reality, it did exist.

As MacG reminds us, the change was made quite late. The iFixit teardown (step 15) also shows that the hole to place the camera exists in the final version. One can notice the centered camera (rather rare with iOS devices).
