Prototypes of several Power Mac G4 Cubes

Spotted on Flickr (again), two prototypes of the Power Mac G4 Cube. I had already talked about one of the two, but the photos are nice. It’s interesting to see the evolution between different versions of the Cube leading up to the final version. It’s worth noting that both prototypes have 400 MHz CPUs, while the final version had at least one with a 450 MHz CPU.

A prototype of an Apple Wireless Mouse

Spotted on Flickr, yet another prototype of the Apple Wireless Mouse, this time not transparent. It’s not transparent this time.

Prototypes of Newton and PowerBook

For prototype enthusiasts, three sets on Flickr: a PowerBook G3 Wall Street, a Japanese Newton, and a Newton 110.

A prototype of an Apple Pro Mouse

Spotted on eBay, an Apple mouse. A transparent prototype of the mouse that preceded the Mighty Mouse. I had already seen one about a year ago.

A prototype of an iPad Mini with two microphones

Sonny Dickson, a specialist in prototypes, has just revealed something interesting: an iPad Mini with two microphones. The final models only have one, but he points out that cases available on eBay and similar platforms sometimes have a slot for the second microphone, indicating that it was presumably removed very late in the device’s development.

A prototype of a 17-inch MacBook Pro motherboard

Sell again on eBay, with a prototype motherboard of a 17-inch MacBook Pro from 2007 or 2008. This is the model with a GeForce 8600M card.

A prototype of a white iPhone 4 with 4 GB

Yet another white iPhone 4 with only 4 GB of storage, and once again, it’s on eBay.

A very old prototype of an Apple Pippin

For once, it’s not on eBay, but on Assemblergames that we find a prototype. Here, a prototype of Apple’s console, the Pippin.

A prototype of an iMac G4

Spotted on eBay: a prototype of a 15-inch iMac G4. Not much to say: it’s a prototype close to the final version, being sold for way too much ($1,500).

A prototype of a Newton

On eBay (as often), a prototype of Newton. It’s a German MessagePad 2000, a functional DVT prototype. It appears identical to a final model.
