Un Power Mac 9700

Vu sur eBay (encore), un Power Mac 9700. Ce modèle de Mac, qui devait succéder au Power Mac 9600, utilisait soit un CPU PowerPC G3, soit deux PowerPC 604e et intégrait six connecteurs d’extension PCI. La machine n’est jamais sortie, remplacée par le premier Power Mac G3. J’avais déjà parlé de ce modèle, dont la sortie a été annulée à une date assez proche de l’annonce lors du retour de Steve Jobs chez Apple.

A Power Mac 9700

Seen on eBay (again), a Power Mac 9700. This Mac model, intended to succeed the Power Mac 9600, either utilized a PowerPC G3 CPU or two PowerPC 604e CPUs and integrated six PCI expansion slots. The machine never made it to market, being replaced by the first Power Mac G3. I had previously discussed this model, whose release was canceled around the time of Steve Jobs’ return to Apple.

Spotted on eBay, a prototype of the Power Mac 9700. This time, it really looks like a Power Mac 9700, complete with six expansion slots. The machine is being sold at a « symbolic » price: $9700.

Vu sur eBay, un prototype de Power Mac 9700. Cette fois, ça ressemble vraiment à un Power Mac 9700, il a bien six connecteurs d’extension. La machine est vendue à un prix « symbolique » : 9700 $.

I had already mentioned this, and Henry Plain has acquired one: the Power Mac 9700. It’s a high-end tower that was never released but appears to have been produced in significant numbers before a rather abrupt halt.

Un prototype de Power Mac 9700

J’en avais déjà parlé, et Henry Plain en a récupéré un : le Power Mac 9700. C’est une tour haut de gamme jamais sortie, mais visiblement produite en grand nombre, l’arrêt aurait été assez brutal.

Do you know about the PowerExpress, also known as the Power Macintosh 9700? This machine was intended to be the high-end version of the Power Mac G3, notably featuring six PCI slots, whereas the Power Mac G3 had only three.

Connaissez-vous le PowerExpress, alias Power Macintosh 9700 ? Cette machine devait être la versions haut de gamme du Power Mac G3, avec notamment six emplacements PCI, alors que les Power Mac G3 n’en ont que trois.
