More prototypes today (we’ll talk about 4K, Thunderbolt, and lots of interesting things this week), with something interesting: Henry Plain, a collector who has already sent me some photos, was interviewed by Cult Of Mac, and some clean photos are available.

Un prototype de Mac du 20e anniversaire

Un lecteur, Henry, m’a envoyé des photos d’un prototype de TAM (Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh). La machine est différente de celle vue dans le film Sabrina avec une coque dorée (la version finale est grise) et un clavier plus sombre. Autre petit truc, il n’y a pas d’inscriptions sur la coque pour indiquer les fonctions des différents boutons.

A 20th Anniversary Mac prototype

A reader, Henry, sent me photos of a Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh (TAM) prototype. The machine is different from the one seen in the movie Sabrina with a gold casing (the final version is gray) and a darker keyboard. Another small detail, there are no inscriptions on the casing to indicate the functions of the different buttons.

Un prototype de Mac du 20e anniversaire dans Sabrina

Amusant (et vu sur Wikipedia) : dans Sabrina, un film qui date de 1995, il y a un prototype Apple. C’est une prototype de Spartacus, le Mac du 20e anniversaire. Dixit Wikipedia, il aurait été prêté par Apple, deux ans (ou presque) avant sa sortie.

Fun fact (seen on Wikipedia): in Sabrina, a movie from 1995, there’s an Apple prototype. It’s a prototype of the Spartacus, the 20th-anniversary Mac. According to Wikipedia, it was loaned by Apple, almost two years before its release.

Encore un prototype sur eBay, un Spartacus, le Mac du 20e anniversaire. C’est un des premiers appareils de bureau doté d’un écran plat et dans un sens, il préfigure les iMac. Enfin, avec un écran de 12 pouces en 800 x 600 et 7 500 $ à son lancement…

Le Magic Trackpad n’est pas le premier…

Si Apple a sorti en grande pompe le Magic Trackpad il y a plus d’un an — j’en ai un que j’utilise assez peu d’ailleurs — ce n’est pas le premier trackpad de bureau de la marque.

A prototype of a keyboard for the 20th-anniversary Mac

You can find everything on eBay, including a prototype of the Spartacus keyboard. The Spartacus was the 20th-anniversary computer, an astonishing but extremely expensive machine. Its keyboard was no exception: compact, without a numeric keypad, it featured Apple’s first external trackpad, all connected via ADB. And this trackpad was detachable.
