A Radiohead Remix on ZX Spectrum

The music program of the day is rather unique: it wasn’t released on a vinyl record or even on a CD… but on YouTube. It’s the track Big Ideas: Don’t get any by James Houston. It’s a remix of Radiohead’s Nude, using a ZX Spectrum along with printers, scanners, and hard drives. And the beginning of the track contains the program’s code.

A 9th generation iPad with a white bezel… for the FCC

With the 9th-generation iPad (released in September 2021 but still sold as an entry-level model), Apple made a choice: the screen bezel was only available in black, with a space gray or silver back. The white bezel, present since the iPad 2, disappeared. But if you visit the FCC website, surprise: the tablet is white.

A Gold Apple Watch Demo on eBay

Seen on eBay, a special Apple Watch: it’s the demo model used to showcase the Apple Watch Edition.

A ZX Spectrum program on a Serbian vinyl record from the 1980s

Another ZX Spectrum program hidden in a record? Again. This time, it’s on a single by the Serbian group Bajaga I Instruktori. It’s not really hidden, though: it’s indicated on the record.

A Fully White AirPort Extreme Prototype

Seen in an FCC document, a prototype of an AirPort Extreme base station with a unique visual feature: it is entirely white.

A Prototype of the 20th Anniversary Mac

Seen on eBay, a prototype of the 20th Anniversary Mac. The seller states that it does not work and comes without accessories, so the asking price ($5,900) seems a bit high to me.

Aphex Twin hid an SSTV image on an EP

Richard David James (Aphex Twin) often hides things in his records; there’s even a piece of a game for the ZX Spectrum in the Richard D. James Album (I’ll talk about it again, it’s peculiar). But in the EP 2 Remixes By AFX, there’s an image encoded in SSTV.

A prototype iPhone 3G motherboard

Seen on Twitter, something a bit unusual: a prototype iPhone 3G motherboard.

A MacBook Pro logo on a MacBook Pro Apple Silicon prototype

With the ARM-based MacBook Pro (14 and 16 inches), Apple removed the « MacBook Pro » name from the chassis, at least under the screen (the name remains engraved under the shell). However, this decision was apparently made late: the 16-inch model tested by the FCC still features the logo.

eARC and Siri Remote: The little things that were planned for the Apple TV

I’m continuing with the FCC, with two related products: the second-generation Apple TV 4K and the third-generation Siri Remote (paired).
