A (fake) iPhone prototype

Apparently, a guy has found a lucrative niche on eBay: selling iPhones with tampered software. He sells regular iPhones (the serial number allows verification here) with manually installed tampered software.

A prototype of an iPhone 6

Yet again, another iPhone 6 running on SwitchBoard has surfaced on eBay, this time in Germany. I still wonder about the origin of these iPhones. On one hand, there are quite a few of them, making me think it might be possible to manually install the program. On the other hand, they come from different parts of the world, and even if Apple allows a test software on a million iPhones, it still makes sense given the sales. Thanks to RevoltXS.

A prototype of an iPhone

Spotted on eBay, a prototype of an iPhone running on SwitchBoard. The seller mentions that the iPhone is genuinely operating on the testing system and is not a modified model (a frankenphone) with a ROM available on the internet. Still, it comes with a $5,000 price tag for this unmarked iPhone…

A prototype of an iPhone 6

For a change, an iPhone 6 running on SwitchBoard. Available on eBay for $2,000, this time it’s an English original.

A prototype of a PowerPC G4 processor

Spotted on eBay, a prototype Power Mac G4 processor (two G4s at 1.25 GHz). It’s a DVT and is sold without the machine, so the interest is still minimal.

A prototype of an iPhone 6

A fun fact, the iPhone 6 with a red Lightning connector and running SwitchBoard (Apple’s test OS) has been purchased by a well-known collector, Henry Plain.

A prototype of a MacBook Pro motherboard

Seen on eBay, a (red) motherboard from a prototype 17-inch MacBook Pro. The board alone is sold at a relatively high price and includes a Core 2 Duo CPU (2.5 GHz) and a notorious nVidia GPU.

A prototype of an Apple Studio Display 17-inch

Spotted on eBay, a prototype of a 17-inch ADC display, seemingly intended for a Power Mac G4 Cube. It’s an ADC display, hence challenging to use with a modern machine. Priced at $300.
