The Verge recently published an article about an interesting iPhone prototype: a rather imposing development board. It looks quite similar to the board I showcased back in 2015, for the iPhone 3G.

Recently, I managed to obtain something interesting for collectors: a development Pippin. It’s a « prototype » model very close to the final version. Apart from an inscription that uses the old name (Power Player), it is technically identical to a standard Pippin.

A Thunderbolt cable prototype

The long series of prototypes for sale on eBay ends with something rather surprising: a Thunderbolt cable. Listed at $400 (auction) and $1,000 for immediate purchase, it is gray with black connectors, and a sticker indicates that it comes from Apple, specifically from the development teams. It’s worth noting that the price isn’t much higher than that of a retail Thunderbolt cable.

A first-generation iPod prototype

More prototypes, this time featuring a first-generation iPod (P95) with a 10 GB hard drive. As expected for a DVT prototype, the device’s motherboard is red. The price of $60,000 seems a bit exaggerated, even considering it’s a product of the brand’s revival.
