A prototype of a Macintosh LC

Last week, I was discussing a prototype of the Macintosh LC on Reddit. This week, another one showed up on eBay. With a seller hoping for $10,000 (😂).

A prototype of a Macintosh LC

Seen on Reddit, a prototype of the Macintosh LC. It has a slightly different front panel (notably the floppy drive door) and a motherboard that also differs from the commercial version.

Sur cette page, je vous mets les promotions du jour. The PowerBook 3500c from Apple, which later became the G3

On the excellent blog Aventure Apple, we recently saw a PowerBook 3500c. If you’re not familiar with this name, that’s understandable: it was released under the name PowerBook G3 in 1997.

The serial number of the Apple Watch Series 2 in Lorem Ipsum

From time to time, Apple uses prototypes for FCC validation. And this Apple Watch Series 2 ticks quite a few boxes. It indeed has a strange logo on the back and a serial number in Lorem Ipsum, which is rather unusual.

The Apple iBeacon… exclusive to Apple

I continue with FCC-approved stuff but for internal use at Apple. This week, the iBeacon station A1573. It’s not unfamiliar: Apple has been using it for several years in Apple Stores with its Apple Store app to locate people in stores.

The Apple Watch chargers for Apple Stores

I was talking about the Apple Watch stand last week, but browsing through the FCC website also reveals some more surprising stuff. Like the chargers for Apple Watch used in Apple Stores.

The Apple Store’s Apple Watch stand

There was a moment when I made a post about something I have at home: the charging stand used in Apple Stores for Apple Watches. While searching for something on the FCC website, I stumbled upon the certification of the device, which provides some information that I had missed.

A prototype of Power Mac G4 (with Tiger Internal Edition)

Seen on Reddit, someone purchased a Power Mac G4 from the Italian equivalent of Craigslist, and it turned out to be a prototype or at least a machine from someone who worked for Apple. The machine arrived well upgraded, complete with a Tiger DVD in Internal Edition.

A smooth Macintosh Classic II prototype

Last week, I was talking about a smooth prototype of the Macintosh SE. This week, there’s also a prototype of the Macintosh Classic II with the same (lack of) texture.

A smooth Macintosh SE prototype

On eBay, someone is selling a rather unique Macintosh SE: it has a smooth casing, meaning it lacks any roughness. On most Macs, Apple applied an effect, a sort of grainy texture that you can easily feel. But on this model, the front face hasn’t received this effect.
